Hortonworks HDP Certified Administrator (HDPCA) exam is specifically designed for Hadoop system administrators and operators responsible for installing, configuring and supporting a HDP Cluster. This HDPCA certification has the recognition from industries and organizations, wherein they believe the Hortonworks HDP Certified Administrators (HDPCA) has the ability to perform hands-on functions on Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP) cluster. There is no need to answer multiple choice questions in this HDPCA exam.

HDP Certified Administrator (HDPCA) Exam Objectives

Students, professionals and Hortonworks Administrator work on Hadoop to install, configure, troubleshoot, high availability, and secure a Hortonworks Data Platform cluster using Apache Ambari. This HDPCA exam has five main categories such as installation, configuration, troubleshooting, high availability, and security. This exam is based on Hortonworks Data Platform 2.3 installed and managed with Ambari 2.1.0.

  • Install ambari-server and ambari-agent
  • Install HDP using the Ambari install wizard
  • Add a new node to an existing cluster

  • Use Ambari to monitor and manage a cluster
  • Mount HDFS to a local filesystem using the NFS Gateway
  • Use Falcon to define and process data pipelines
  • Take snapshots using the HDFS snapshot feature
  • Secure an HDP cluster using Ambari

Configuration Category

  • Define and deploy a rack topology script
  • Install and configure an HDP 2.x cluster
  • Change the configuration of a service using Ambari
  • Configure the Capacity Scheduler
  • Create a home directory for a user and configure permissions
  • Configure the include and exclude DataNode files

Troubleshooting Category

  • Restart an HDP service
  • View an application’s log file
  • Configure and manage alerts
  • Troubleshoot a failed job

High Availability Category

  • Configure NameNode HA
  • Implement and configure NameNode HA using Ambari
  • Use Ambari to configure the schedulers of theResourceManager
  • Configure ResourceManager HA
  • Copy data between two clusters using distcp
  • Create a snapshot of an HDFS directory
  • Recover a snapshot

Security Category

  • Setup a Knox gateway
  • Install and configure Knox
  • Install and configure Ranger

Prerequisites to appear for Hortonworks HPDCA Exam

Candidates should have the knowledge of Hadoop fundamentals; and should have the experience in managing and administering Hadoop cluster; installing and configuring of Hadoop components such as Sqoop, Flume, Hive, Pig and Oozie. They should also be able to perform each of the tasks containing in the list of exam objectives.
